When discussing the concepts of web marketing, the topic that best caught my eye was the difference between vector and raster. Though a rather simple concept, I believe that it can make a big difference in the effectiveness of a website.
Imagine you are scrolling through a photography website and there are a group of images on the screen. If you found a image that caught your eye, you may want to download it. Once you download the photo and make it your screen saver, the image is blurry. In a situation like this, the website owner may want to consider changing his format to vector instead of keeping it in raster. That way, customers feel satisfied with the content the are downloading.
To delve a bit deeper, it is important to consider the colors that are being used within your website. The two color makeups will have an impact on your website. To use RGB instead of CMYK is to potentially prevent a website visitor from printing colored content from your website.
RGB, CMYK, Vector, and Raster are all important concepts that have a great influence on website imagery. Imagery is arguably the most important aspect of a website. Therefore, understanding the relevance of these topics will better enhance your website.
I loved the GIF you used as your header. Super eye-catching. Though you didnt include much information I completely agree with the importance of color usage. I loved the example you used of a situation where the owner may want to change the format from raster to vector.
Darcie, your featured image really caught my eye. I thought you could make your blog a little more in depth about the importance of vector vs. raster. But, overall you covered the gist of the difference. I had no idea before this lecture what RGB and CMYK even meant in regards to printing pictures of the web. Especially going into the digital marketing field, this blog helped reiterate how to keep consumers happy with the quality of the pictures they would be downloading.
