Five Reasons Why Your Company Should Be on Social Media

If I asked you about Apple’s latest iPhone, would you know what I was talking about? If I asked you about Post Malone’s newest album, would you know about it? Would you know anything about any brand if it wasn’t because you read it while you scrolled through your feed on social media? Most millennials would say no. We live in a time where the world is at our fingertips. Literally. And, thanks to social media, we have the ability to stay connected. This is something businesses should take advantage of. Whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other platform, brands thrive by being social. Still not convinced? Here are a couple of reasons why going social can make your business come to life.

Helps to stay connected with your customers

Having a social media presence helps to better understand your audience and build a relationship with your customers. Customers can follow your business’ page and stay connected with the brand as a social network, not as a marketing tactic aimed to sell. By staying connected, you can track your customers’ wants and needs and figure out what is best for the company and what is and isn’t working out for the brand.

Creates brand loyalty

One word: engagement. Many companies build brand loyalty by engaging with their followers and providing them with relevant, entertaining, and useful content. The key is not to focus on being on every social media platform but focusing on those that target your specific market and creating an authentic relationship with your following. Customers want to know that the brand values them and are not just regular customers.

Key to customer service

Having to wait for a problem to be resolved? Nobody has time for that. Our generation expects problems to be responded quickly and resolved within minutes. With social media, not only can companies keep track of customers’ feedback, concerns, and complaints, but can also interact with the customers to meet their needs. By engaging with one’s followers and providing excellent customer service, brands can keep their customers happy and maintain their image.

Welcomes newbies

Retweet. Repost. Share. Post to story. Social media lets targeted customers share news, photos, videos, or any type of post, and this allows new users to engage with the brand. These platforms allow the brand to run across a wider range of customers with no extra effort.

Challenges the competition

Chances are that your competition is already on social media. So, what are you waiting for? The media is saturated and these platforms give businesses the opportunity to compete and challenge one another, allowing them to demonstrate the authenticity of its brand.

  1. This was very insightful, Tiffany. You made excellent points. Your “Creates brand loyalty,” segment is the most impactful, in my opinion, because you mentioned, “creating an authentic relationship with your following,” and that is the key to almost every successful business. However, there is one major aspect that you didn’t consider. Having the right person at the helm of your social media accounts is paramount for your success. You must be certain that they are using the Themes, Message and Tone that you want your company to represent.

  2. There was so much good information provided in this blog! I love the way the information was presented. Each category was kept short and to the point but still included everything that was useful about the subject.

  3. Great job! I like how you separated the information and your use of bold titles. You provided great information and lots of it! I also like that you had a paragraph introducing the topics.
