4 Factors That Determine Web Credibility

There are many factors that go into whether a website is viewed as credible or not. These things may seem obvious, but many companies and individuals alike miss these simple factors that may make or break whether a customer trusts them or sees them as credible. These are four factors that determine web credibility:

4.) The About Us Page

An “About Us” page contains information for people that want to learn more about a company. A story about the company’s origin, its products, the people behind it, and mission values will make its website appear more credible. When a customer sees this they know that they mean something to the company, and that the company is legitimate and not just a random anonymous site after their hard earned money.

3.) Site Security

A secure site means an increase in trust. A site labeled, “http” is also labelled as not secure on certain browsers. When a site is labeled HTTPS it means that there is an encryption on the website that prevents a cyber fighter from infiltrating or stealing information. A customer that sees a company’s site as not secure is less likely to trust the site or give it any credibility in their mind.

2.) Reviews and Testimonials

When wanting to see if a product is good or not the first thing a customer may seek is reviews and testimonials. Making sure a website highlights verifiable reviews may be the deciding factor in the customer’s decision to not only deem the site as credible, but to also influence the final purchase of a company’s goods or services. Encouraging positive customer reviews means always making sure the customer is satisfied.

1.) Brand Guidelines

We’ve all seen webpages that don’t have good colors, there’s ten or eleven fonts on the page, and the pictures aren’t fitting of anything on the page. You wouldn’t want to stay on a site like that? Let alone buy from the site! If a company’s website abides by brand guidelines and has consistent principles applied to the webpage a customer is way more likely to trust it. This will make the website not only appealing to the eyes, but appealing to the company’s trust and credibility.
