Raster Images:
Raster images are built on pixels and are cannot be infinitely zoomed in. Raster images are generally designed to be displayed as one size and cannot be expanded. These are useful on websites because on small images, they will appear clear yet they are very quick to load.

Vector Images:
Vector images are built entirely different than raster, and are much better for big displays or situations where the image must be zoomed in. Vector’s are built on a mathematical equation, and can therefore be zoomed infinitely without becoming distorted. For example, vector images may be beneficial on a main header image that is very large, where a raster would be best for smaller product images. Vector images are also great for external prints such as billboards, where an image would need to be sent to a printing company and greatly expanded to fit the template.
