SMART is an acronym that stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely. These goals provide a structured guideline for helping a marketing team assess the most effective course of action. SMART goals can help establish the larger purpose of a team’s marketing practices and further develop its brand identity. Marketing teams can discuss the terms of the goal to better develop a unified purpose for their objectives. Understanding the parameters of the goal-setting process can help the team understand the relevance of each task and increase overall productivity.

Specific
When creating a marketing goal for your’e team, you must have a specific goal in mind. The example Im going to use for this is too is to get a clothing stores online sales to increase on sunny days within 2 months. This is an example of not only a specific goal but also a productive goal for the company
Measurable
Defining success early on is crucial in order to measure your ongoing progress. What criteria, or key performance indicators, will you use to illustrate you’ve achieved success?
Attainable
Setting marketing goals is the easy part. Determining whether you can actually accomplish what you’ve set before you is another story. You don’t want to set goals that are so steep you’ll never accomplish them, or are so easy that they weren’t worth setting in the first place.
Relevant
Is this goal relevant to company success? Increasing sales most definitely is a relevant goal. If the goal does not help better your company in anyway then changing it to something that does is the best option.
Timely
How long will it take to reach the goals you’ve set? For this goal we said we wanted to reach this goal within 2 months. As far as long term goals go, what efforts need to be set up in the short term so that you don’t lose ground early on? Take a look at the whole picture of both short and long term goal timeframes during this final step. Be sure to come back to that conversation as you move forward so you continue to make sure your’e company is on the right track.
