“We get to live in a time where we can use social media as a tool.”
-Gigi Hadid
Social Media is defined as a form of electronic communication which users can then create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, etc. Today, I am going to be telling you about the 6 myths of social media so we can better understand why social media is a thing. In this blog, I will be going over the myths and pretty much telling you why it’s a lie.
Social Media is Free
- Some social media sites require you to pay for access.
- Nothing is free in this world.
Good Social Media Must Go Viral
- Social media doesn’t need to go viral to be determined as “good”
- Local businesses don’t go viral for their social medias.
Social Media will replace original media
- Our generation nowadays is use to social media but that doesn’t mean it’s taking over the world.
- Newspapers and magazines will always be around.
Good Social Media must reach millions of people
- Again, social media doesn’t need to reach millions of people.
- I would like to think my social media is good and I only reach my friends and family.
A good social media campaign can fix most problems
- This is not always true. It depends on what exactly went wrong and why you need to fix it.
- Once you have a bad rep, it’s hard to come back from it
Social media should function independently of traditional media
- Social media should work directly with the traditional media so it’s not falsely giving out information on either side.
- They should live in harmony.
So now that you’ve seen the myths and I’ve told you why it’s not true, I hope you feel more comfortable about your social medias. Even if you only have a few followers doesn’t mean that you are losing in life.
