SMART Goals

When creating digital marketing goals, it is best to follow the SMART acronym. The SMART acronym allows goal setters to be creative and focused at the same time and is great for setting goals in the digital marketing world.

Specific

Goals should be specific in order in to be clear and easy to understand. Ask yourself what, why, who, when, where, and how when being specific in your goals.

Measurable

Goals should be measurable in a quantitative way. A measurable goal should answer how much/many. For example ” I want to increase our website engagement by 20%”. This would cover the measurable aspect of SMART goals.

Attainable

Goals should be realistic when you create them. Increasing sales by 50000% is not an attainable goal, but increasing website engagement by 20% in the next 6 months is a realistic, achievable goal.

Relevant

When creating goals, they need to be relevant. Not only does it need to be relevant to the organization, but also to yourself, meaning are you the right person to achieve this goal.

Timely

Goals need to be timely in order to be SMART. A timely goal is bound by a time limit that is realistic, not too fast or too slow. This allows for long-term goals to be prioritized and not procrastinated on.

All in all, SMART goals, while they may seem simple to follow, are missing within many organizations, and something so small could drastically improve results for organizations!
