What are SEM and SEO used on?

SEM and SEO are used on search engines, some big names could be Google (The King), Duck Duck Go, Yahoo, and Bing.  You can use them on all of them, although Google is the best choice for sure. Google is the quickest engine, has the most sites in its index, and has the best branding (its literally Google).

What is SEM/PPC?

SEM, or Search Engine Marketing is advertising, marketing, or paying a search engine to put an ad on there.  So when somebody clicks on it, they pay for it, that why it’s called pay-per-click (PPC).  Advertisers can also pay for keywords that consumers or search engine users that might relate to the terms searched for, this will let their ad appear near the top.

What is SEO?

SEO or Search Engine Optimization, is free advertising.  It is “organic” rather than having to pay for ads.  You cannot pay search engines to get higher organic search rankings, you have to really work to improve that.  To do that, you optimize the website with keywords to make it relevant and more popular towards searches and in turn, the search engine will rank them higher.
