What is search engine optimization (SEO)? What does it do? How do companies use it and why do they even bother with it?
Search engine optimization is the process of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic to a website or a web page from search engines. SEO targets unpaid traffic rather than direct traffic or paid traffic. Using SEO strategies is not a difficult thing and can greatly benefit companies with their online advertisements and engagement. A companies main goal when having a website online should be to appear towards the top of the first page when a consumer looks up any product that said company is selling. The main way that a company can utilize SEO is by securing multiple key words that correlate with their company and the products/ services that they sell. For example, Apple could use keywords such as; iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, MacBook, etc. So whenever a consumer looks up anything with these words, Apple will be the company at the top of the search engines page.
Therefor, as the owner or marketing team for a larger company you would want to make sure that your company has perfect SEO this way you have more engagement online. The goal for a new company when using SEO strategies should be to get on the first page of any search engine. This is because it is unlikely that a customer would click to the second page of Google, and so the company wouldn’t get interaction online.
