SEO: Keywords, Website Optimization, and Linking

This week in digital marketing we learned about SEO and Google and how they play a significant role in our world of digital marketing and advertising. The three most important pieces of SEO in digital marketing is the use of keywords, website optimization, and linking. The use of keyword in SEO is pivotal when looking up anything on Google or any other search engine. Keywords help define your search and help the customer break down what the product or information they are looking for is most important to them. For example, if we did Tide, we would use key words such as clean, stain fighting, and laundry detergent.

When learning about website optimization, we learned about meta tags and title tags and how they are equally important for your marketing strategies. Title tags are around 50-60 words and include the name of the webpage in it as well. Meta tags are short pieces of text and descriptors of the content within the HTML code of a website that do not appear on the site itself. They also tell the viewer about the website is about as well.

Linking in digital advertising is linking texts that will take you to a certain part of the webpage or a completely different webpage. Linking is very important to SEO because it limits searching the internet for certain information when you can click on links provided and shorten your search online. There are many types of different links that all have different meanings which I thought was very interesting.
