Overview

An million dollar idea with no effective way to get the word out might as well be worthless. People have different theories on how to grab the consumers attention and persuade them to make the purchase, but its all about the matter of purpose, design, usability, and testing. This blog will go over briefly about how to effectively market your website to consumers across the world.

Purpose

When designing your website, you have to think about the reason you are doing this. Find your goals to drive traffic, build awareness, and to effectively sell your products. Have your target market in mind, whether you want to target your customers like old or younger people, age group, and other demographics.

Design

Design is half the battle when it comes to effectively marketing your website. You have to think about the user experience and finding the balance between graphics and text. Using the right imagery when designing your website is everything, it has to grab the readers attention and correlate with the topic at hand. Making sure you are using quality images and know the copyright laws. There needs to be consistency with your website, making it all color coded, and that it goes along with the theme of the business. Think about how the customers expect your website to look.

Usability

Have you ever went to a website and had trouble loading something, or it is not user friendly and you are stuck for minutes trying to navigate around the website. Usability is all about making it easy for your customer to view the website. Ensure that you are using plain language, links are underlined, navigation is on top and top left, logo in the top left, and making sure the search bar is easy to find. Remember that less is sometimes more.

Testing

The only way to understand your market, is to test it. Using tests to see which one performs better is the best way for improvement and feedback. It is okay to fail as long as you learn and grow from it. Marketers use A/B testing to see which one performs for optimal. For example, you could test the % of sales after implying either a 10% discount, or offering free shipping. Using different testing and understanding the analytics of your website will help you better understand how to effectively market to your audience.
