When wanting to reach out to potential and/or existing customers, one of the most efficient ways is to send out e-mails directly to their inbox. However, we don’t want to send out spam e-mails, so we have to obtain e-mails in order to prevent that.
Ways to Obtain E-mails
List-building
Developing a database of likeminded users (customers or those interested in products)
Opt-in vs. Opt-out
A checkbox determining whether or not a potential customer would like to receive or continue to receive emails. If the customer has to check the box, they opt-in to the list. Likewise, if a customer has to uncheck the box, they opt-out of the list.
Double Opt-in
A double opt-in means that there is an extra step consumers will have to take in order to opt-in, like a confirmation link to your inbox.
Short vs. Long Forms
Forms can be used to sign-up by using either a short or long form. Short forms have a higher conversion rate, but long forms generate stronger leads and help to segment their list by different consumer needs.
