Once you’ve perfected your website it’s time to just sit back and let it magically attract customers, right?
Not quite.
If your website isn’t showing up where your customers are looking then they won’t visit it, and if no one is visiting your website, no one will see it.
This cycle can lock you away from new customers and make having a website almost useless. But don’t worry, once you understand how this works, you’ll be able to give your website a boost to the top of the google list.
What you’re trying to do is gain relevance in the eyes of Google (and other engines) so that they will show you’re website when people google something that falls within your product range and service capabilities. A critical part of this relevance is connection.
Building connection across the web comes in the form of getting other sites to link back to yours. Finding ways to get other sites to post your link could include Instagramers promoting your product and linking to your website, or maybe blogs, YouTube channels, even news stations. Having a diverse and plentiful array of sites and people linking back to your site will boost how relevant Google and other search engines find your site.
Hi Will! I thought this was a great way to describe the importance of SEO/SEM to people who may not understand marketing/advertising. Good work!
