Why guess what people want to see when you can get hands on results? Marketers job is to analyze their target market but it’s hard to determine what exactly they want. Yes, you can give out surveys and study data results to discover trends, etc. However, eye tracking is very a important and reliable way to obtain primary research that will make marketers job a lot easier.

Eye tracking helps marketers design websites so that they reach the greatest amount of consumers in the most effective way. There are studies done to find what works best when designing a website and the data results are called “heat maps”. Heat maps display what part of the website people look at the most. Marketers look at these heat maps so that they know a little bit more about their consumers and what they’re drawn to looking at first and the most amount of time.

Eye tracking studies are not just done for websites but also in places such as a grocery store. It shows what visual elements are noticed and what ones are ignored. It helps place products in a highly productive area based off of how customers navigate through out the aisles.
