How Weather Effects Consumer Behavior

One of the most interesting things about observing consumer trends, is looking at all the different factors that effect the way a consumer behaves. One trend that I found particularly surprising was how weather effects the way that people shop online. A recent study titled “Weather and eCommerce: How Weather Impacts Retail Website Traffic and Online Sales” found a direct link between poor weather (rainy, snowy, etc) and an increase in online traffic and sales. This study shows that there is  a critical opportunity for advertisers to take advantage of  weather changes, by more heavily promoting when the clouds roll in. Looking at studies like these show how important following trends and studies is, as learning more about how a consumer behaves will allow you to better connect with them.

  1. I like how you obtained information from a real study to show when traffic is the heaviest and I like your picture choice.

  2. First off, I love the giff. I appreciate the hyperlinked text. I learned that in addition to rainy weather, hot temperatures also increase online sales. Im curious as to what other trends in life lead to more online sales.
