Digital Marketing 101: Holiday Edition

For consumers, the holiday season is the time for spending. Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Holiday sales throughout the month of December. So, during this hectic period of nonstop promotions, how can your company stand out?

Whether you’re a creator, retailer, blogger, or whatever, here are a few tips for the holidays.

Prep for the season

Since it’s already December 1st, this isn’t the most useful tip right now, but it’s a great way to plan out the season.

Create a calendar

Having a calendar for upcoming dates and deadlines is always a good and responsible thing to do. This idea is even better when you need a plan for social media, promotions, or emails. Tools like Asana, Hootsuite, HubSpot, and Loomly can help everyone stay on the same schedule despite the holiday madness.

Take a trip to the past

Review online activity from the previous year; see how visitors used your website/page during the holidays. Who visited your page? What buttons attracted those Black Friday shoppers? What time did most users make a purchase? Did last year’s promotions and advertisements have a high bounce back rate or graciously lead to a nice conversion rate?

Further, review your marketing strategy for the year. Will your digital marketing efforts help you achieve the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year?

Get into the Holiday Spirit 🙂

Switching to a green and red color scheme can attract a few customers, but communicating the brand’s values can be even more effective. Holiday-themed banners and pictures are great, but the holidays are also a great time to share some heartwarming content. Give back to the community, and express how thankful you are for your customers, partners, employees, and supporters. If you can, thank your loyal customers with an exclusive holiday deal. This can help develop your brand image and credibility.

(Tip: You should still totally use those holiday emojis).
