Lets talk about SEO; what it is,  and  why it is important first: 

 

What is SEO?  

 

SEO stands for “search engine optimization”, and it is a method that helps  increase  both the quality and the quantity of a website’s traffic. It helps your company be shown to the public through online organic search engine results.

 

Why is it important? 

 

It helps you understand and figure out what your costumers are  searching for. What are the answers they are looking for, and  what are the words your users are using. By having knowledge of these answers will helps you optimize your web page with your target keywords and the type of content your consumer is looking for and wants to see.

 

Now, let’s go ahead and talk about why “keywords research” is the main step towards attracting more traffic to your website. 

 

As we mentioned above, learning what your users are searching for online, identifying their needs and problems, and using these answers as a guide to improve your website will lead to an improved  bottom line.

 

Ask yourself this question: “What do consumers search for when looking for my product/service? “

 

3 things to keep in mind when doing keyword research:

 

  1.  Relevancy
  2. Bring traffic to your website
  3. Competitive analysis: Who is your competition? Analyze what terms your competition is ranking for. How difficult will it be to rank for those terms?
    1. Short tail: broad intent,  higher search volume (less than 3 words)
    2. Long tail: specific intent, much lower search volume (more than 3 words)

 

You should optimize for phrases/keywords that will lead to your ultimate goals, bring traffic to your website. Remember it is essential to know what are the words people are using when searching for your company or your competition!
