There are a number of things that go into effective web design that have a large impact on if a consumer will take the time to view your site or just discard it like countless others.
- Design – If a web site doesn’t have a “friendly” feel to it or it feels complicated a consumer is much less likely to spend their valuable time searching the site for the things that they are looking for. A well designed site will have key elements highlighted in an easy to navigate tool bar allowing for the consumer to access them easily and in a timely manner. The visual appeal of your main pages is an essential part of creating a well designed site.
- Content Creation – The content of the website is truly the main driving force on wether or not a consumer will stay on the site. If a site has nothing or very little to offer then a consumer isn’t going to give It the time of day. However a well thought out site with a number of in-depth articles or information that offers insight into a product that highlights a consumers needs will lead to a much larger web presence and viewer retention.
- Simplicity – In my brief experience in website design it I have found that viewers don’t want to “beat around the bush”. They want to view the site and be able to easily locate the information or product that they are looking for in the smallest amount of time possible, unless your dealing with a social media site. Generally speaking a simple and fluid design will be your best bet in the creation of a website.
- Flow – The design of a website is meant to flow from the home page to a more specific site containing the information that a client or consumer is looking for and this is a very important fact to consider when designing a site. This also relays back to the fact that individuals don’t want to spend a long time fighting with a site to try and find the information that they are truly searching for and a well designed site can eliminate this all together.
The information provided in this blog was very helpful! I would recommend using site builder for future blogs.

Great information included in your blog. I just wish your text was larger to make it easier to read.
I like how you broke down the 4 factors. Great job Josh!
