
MYTH #1: Social Media is Free Marketing – Social media is free to use, BUT social media marketing is not always free. Most recently, Facebook and Instagram have changed their algorithms and changed restrictions on who can see your business content and and how often. Businesses’ use paid advertisements to increase active engagement and reach their target market.
MYTH #2: More Followers = More Business – The quality of followers will always be more important than the quantity of the followers. Giving your followers exactly what they want is the best approach to increase engagement activity. Brands that produce high-engagement content, tend to result in an increase of followers.
MYTH #3: You Need to Have an Account on Every Platform – Do your research first to find out what platform your target audience is most active on and then decide which platforms are necessary. Only create as many social media accounts as you can manage.
MYTH #4: Only Post Once or Twice a Week – Many companies only post once or twice a week to avoid feeling “spammy”. If you can produce relevant, valuable, and engaging content most as much as you can! Posting once or twice a week will not increase engagement levels.
MYTH #5: Social Media Marketing will Kill Email Marketing – To sign up for any social media account, you must enter your email; therefore, email marketing should always be accounted for. Social media and email marketing are complementary tactics, that will benefit the companies engagement with consumers.
