Value that you can create or add to a company is the reason a business wants you. This value is what gives your company the need to employee you. If you can show your employer examples of the value you bring or add to the organization the more important you will be and the more they will be willing to spend to keep you. To make yourself more valuable, you could get certified in areas that are sought out for by companies in your field or get a degree in that field. Both of these are examples of experience and experience is king. If you are already working with your organization, find a way to show numbers that display what you have done to add value to the organization.
How to get started?
This one is really easy, find a field you enjoy and just start. Find a school you can attend that has a degree in that field, start a certification, or look for company in your field of choice and find an entry level job you can start to get your foot in the door and work to climb the ladder.
