What Are SMART and Why Are They Important

In this blog post I will be discussing what are SMART goals and why they are important. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym guide for setting proper goals that will help you achieve your objectives.
S: Specific, the ‘s’ stands for specific, which means that your goals should be simple and significant to make it specific narrowing down what you are trying to achieve.
M: Measureable, the ‘m’ stands for measurable, which means it should be meaningful and something you can judge, what evidence can you use to view if you are making progress.
A: Attainable, the ‘a’ stands for attainable, your goals should not be too far fetched or too easily achieved. the goal must be challenging enough to work hard for yet definitely attainable.
R: Relevant, the ‘r’ stands for relevant which means, it should be reasonable and realistic towards your desired objective. Your goals should align with your objectives.
T: Timely, the ‘t’ stands for timely, your goals should have a realistic and ambitious end date for achieving the goals set.
Setting goals is a very important step in giving you the motivation to achieve what you want, using the SMART goal acronym will give you clarity on what you truly want to achieve as they will keep you accountable throughout the whole process giving you the best possible chance to achieve what you set out to do.
