What is digital analytics?
Digital analytics is the gathering of data from external sources. The data you collect from these sources can help you track where your customers are coming from, whether that be a website or social media. If you use this data wisely then it can help you drive your website to the next level to improve your customers online experience. Below I will list examples of some digital analytics tactics.

Website traffic
Web traffic can be measure in visits or sessions, it can help you see the popularity of your website or different parts of your site. You can see this by viewing statistics in a server log file. The more people that see your site that means the more potential customers you may have.

New and returning visitors
New users are people who have never visited your website before, on the other hand returning users are users that have visited before and are returning once again. You are able to track these things through Google Analytics using cookies, it looks for a tracking cookie on your device. If the cookie is there then it considers you a returning user. If the cookie is not present then it considers you a new user.
Bounce Rate
The bounce rate is the percentage of single page sessions where a customer left your site without interacting with it. Your bounce rate can be high from the design being poor, this could be from way too much happening at once on your website. Another reason could be the referring traffic sources, basically where your visitors are coming from. You could see that the majority of your customers are coming from a social media page of yours compared to an organic search, which is important information to know.
