In class this week we learned about the use and importance of social media in digital advertising and how vital it can be to know the importance of each social media platform and how each platform can advertise your product. Social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat will help you! Utilizing these social media platforms is key to gaining an audience and here is how it can be done:
Starting with Facebook, Facebook has 2.3 billion monthly active users and is by far one of, if not the most popular social media platform to date. Facebook offers users an option to advertise content across its platform for certain prices. By doing this, it will boost your contents image and be seen from not just only your friends but people locally who aren’t your friends on Facebook as well.
Next is Twitter and twitter acts a lot like Facebook when it comes to purchasing ad content. Twitter is a social media platform where you can tweet messages to your subscribers, and you can use hashtags to promote your content to a wider audience. Just like Facebook, you get to choose how you want your ad to look by stating a goal and objective for the ad to reach by paying for the ads content.
Instagram appeals to the younger generations rather than twitter and Facebook. Twitter and Facebook still appeal to younger people, but Instagram dominates in the younger generations. Younger than Facebook and appeals to more females, this social media website is equivalent to a social photo album where people who follow you can see your content whenever they please. Similar to Twitter and Facebook, you can sponsor your posts on Instagram to gain a wider audience of people to view your content.
Lastly, Snapchat is a great social media platform to appeal to the younger generation just like Instagram. Snapchat is different from the other social media platforms since the messages and pictures you send to your friends are only temporary. Snapchat uses filters and sponsored lenses for spreading its content. Most times these filters and lenses are paid for and are offered to people in their snapchat filters.
