Search Engine Optimization is a technique that companies use to help customers find a website relevant to their Google searches. This improves the search engine rankings of a website for a specific set of keywords. With SEO, it’s important to create a SMART goal. The goal should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely. Ways to be on the front page of Google are by using keywords, website optimization, and linking.

Keywords:

Keywords should be relevant to the website. They should represent the product. This is so that consumers can easily find the website in relation to what they may search. Consumers often search words relative to what they’re looking for without knowing the website name. Keywords should generate search traffic, and have low competition so that the website can be easily found. If the keyword has high competition, it may not show up on one of the top search pages meaning that it’ll get lost in the search. This makes it more challenging for consumers to find.

Optimization:

Optimization is the process of assigning keywords to specific pages on a website. Broad keyword phrases fit best for higher level pages like the first couple pages on Google search while specific keyword phrases are lower level product pages that are a little more challenging to find. Meta Tags are short pieces of text that tell the search engine what the website is all about. A Descriptive Tag should be around 150 characters and tells consumers why they should visit your site. The various tags help optimize a website.

Linking:

Linking is important for search engines. Internal links are what provide the best user experience while inbound links increase the relevance of certain topics. There are various links that can be used to enhance a website. A URL link is a link that’s actually the URL that can be clicked on. A topic link is a link that’s descriptive and relates to the topic. A keyword link is a link that uses a keyword to link to the website. It’s important to make sure all the links you wish to use are working links.
