2. transactional emails- are automated emails sent from one sender to one recipient
   • account creation confirmation
   • order confirmations
   • credit card payment confirmation
   • shipment confirmation
   • shipment delays
   • customers anticipate these emails
3. triggered emails- are emails sent automatically sent to their customer’s inboxes as a result of their behaviors
   • cart abandonment email
   • request to review a product
   • “welcome back” and “we miss you” emails
   • birthday emails
4. onboarding emails- are designed to help new customers to use and gain value from a product or service
   • Welcome offer
   • social media invite
   • invitation to mobile app
   • website explanation
