Social Media Marketing: A form of Internet Marketing utilizing social networking sites as marketing tools, thereby gaining traffic, brand exposure and interaction with customers through social media.

  • Triggers remind you of the product

3. Emotion

  • Connecting products with strong emotions leads to sharing.
  • example: “fear” or “love”

4. Public

  • Our decisions are affected by what everyone else is doing.
  • If my teammates get new gear then I feel I have to also.

5. Practical Value

  • People look for content that is actually helpful.
  • Things like recipes or “hot to” videos on Youtube.

6. Stories

  • People communicate through stories.
  • Nike with their “Everyone has a voice. Everyone has a story.” campaign. “This article and photo gallery give an intimate look into Amsterdam’s elusive street football scene … while this video celebrates NBA player Kyrie Irving’s father and the sacrifices he made through a simple game of one-on-one.”
