S.M.A.R.T Goals was a topic that stood out to me during lecture because it is a great method to use when you’re in the process of planning out a strategy of how to best pursue the goals you want to accomplish. Many times when people plan out ways to achieve their goals they don’t have a formulated plan which normally results in goals not being met. Using SMART Goals can help in avoiding that.

Specific: The first step in SMART Goals is getting right to the point of what your hoping to accomplish. Being specific in this step plays a significant role in how you choose to pursue the goal you want to achieve.
Measurable: Having measurable goals is important in tracking the progress you have made and being able to see what has been accomplished and what still needs to be done.
Attainable: One of the most important aspects in S.M.A.R.T is setting goals that are realistic and within reach. The goals you set for yourself should make you feel like you’re progressing rather than regressing to your overall goal.
Relevant: Nobody sets goals for themselves if the end goal you achieve doesn’t hold some significance or benefits for yourself. Having relevance in your goal and understanding the benefits that will come from achieving your goal is important in S.M.A.R.T Goal planning.
Time Based: Goals that hold significance are not dragged out for a long period of time. Your goals need to be pursued with a sense of urgency and also include a deadline for when you want the goal to be met.
