Finding the Right Host
It is not a secret that building a website is not easy, and it can be very time consuming. It is important that you understand the steps that you need to take in order to have the result you desire.
Nowadays, it has become easier for new companies to surface, and not all of them are reputable. It may seem that having more options makes it easier, but the amount of options may be overwhelming.
Doing Research
You will find many host service options, free and paid, just make sure that you do some research beforehand, and that there is feedback available from people who have used it and reviewed it before.
- You don´t have to go for the most expensive one, just make sure that the one that you pick is reliable and actually has the features that you're looking for in a host. There are websites that can even do this for you, and compare the different alternatives you have and which one is worth it.
Asking for Help
Perhaps you're not familiar with the pricing, or plan options offered by the web host vendor, sometimes the lowest price isn't necessarily the best price.
- Make sure that you know until which extent you can work on your own. Some may even take advantage of your lack of experience and trick you into paying more, so accept the help before its too late.
- If you're a beginner, always consider the possibility of asking for external help when you need it, which can protect you from making costly mistakes.
Don't leave it all to beginners luck, that will only take you so far!
I really like how you organized your blog post and made it short but sweet. Anyone that is web host “hunting” would definitely find this post helpful.
Thank you very much 🙂
Hi Maria, I really liked your introductory article to web hosting! I think it covers the basics and could ease some of the introductory anxiety of jumping into the world of web design. One thing that could be an awesome addition to your article is showing some examples of hosting services, and breaking them down in a very rudimentary way.
This blog was refreshing to see. Very original, and went into more detail about finding the right host. Which is something we talked about briefly in class but it was nice to read that there are more then one option out there for hosting services. I’m not building a website anytime soon, but if I was this blog would have defiantly helped.
