Your website shouldn’t be a mystery to solve, when consumers visit your website, it needs to be clear and concise of the product or services you are offering. The importance of readable information can be critical during the first glance at a website. Regardless of the type of website you are designing, here are some basic tips:

  • Information stated needs to be well proportioned. If paragraph get too long, consider adding some graphics, bullet points, images, etc.
  • Text needs to be easy to read, not too small and not obnoxiously large.
  •  Text color needs to be easy on the eyes and differentiate from background image/color.
  • Fonts need to be easy to read, also using too many different types of fonts rarely looks good, so its always better to stick to a few that go well together or with your website theme.
  • Proper grammar! You can have the nicest and coolest website ever, but if you don’t spell check your content, consumers might perceive you as lazy.
  • Text needs to be well balanced, and evenly spaced.

Make sure your menu/tabs are easy to access, consumers shouldn’t be struggling to get to the information they need. By identifying your menu tabs into different categories, consumers will easily get to the information they are looking for. Your menu tabs should bring them to the right page corresponded. In addition, having broken links should be avoided at all costs, nothing is more annoying than clicking on a tab, selecting something and looping back to the home page.

Creating a successful website means paying close attention to the basics. The simple mistakes are often overlooked and can turn customers away, rather than bringing them in.
