My Exchange Experience

American Culture

American Culture is so different to Australian Culture, (sorry if i offend anyone)

First thing I noticed in America is how noisy Americans tend to be, they have no problem blasting music out of their car, complimenting random people on the streets and reaving their engines to show off their not so hot whip

Next thing, when I was in Australia I knew America was the land of food. Experiencing the hub and how much food there was to enjoy instantly got me hooked.

Weird American Quirks and Features

  • There are no dedicated blinking lights on cars, they use the red brake lights to double as the blinking lights
  • Cars are not required to have a front number plate, and so many of the cars either have no front number plate or are able to have a fun custom one
  • Spelling here is really strange. words such as "mom" in Australia we spell "mum" or "color" at home we spell "colour", so doing any essays or writing is a little harder
  • American Accents, to me everyone has a slight American accent, and to everyone I have a Australian accent
  • Building around Tampa I noticed are built out, rather than up. There aren't many high rise buildings over 5 stories
  • Skateboarding is very popular, no one in Australia skateboards around campus

USF Campus

USF campus is also such an awesome and huge campus, it's one of the most beautiful and breathtaking places I've been. Seeing the Sunset and Sunrise upon Juniper and the library is one of the greatest sights i've seen in my life.

From the Marshal Student Centre, to the Reflection Pool, to the Botanical Gardens. This campus really has everything, It's one of the many many things I'll miss about Tampa, and I wish I could have some aspects of this campus back home

  1. Dylan, really interesting to hear about your exchange experience here in the U.S. Since I am local from orlando, I have not been able to experience some of the challenges that you have, especially coming half across the world in Australia.

  2. Hello Dylan really liked your post about your experience in the U.S. im also a exchange student and saw different things
