LAND IT OR LOSE IT

92% of companies use LinkedIn, Facebook, and/or Twitter for recruiting. Which means, if you aren't careful about what you post on social media, it may hinder your job hunting. Here are some tips to create a positive impression to help you get hired:

  • Drunk pictures
  • Negative attitude
  • Things you wouldn't want your boss to see/read
    • Extreme alcohol consumption
    • References to illegal drugs
    • Posts of sexual nature
    • Spelling/grammar errors
    • Profanity

LET'S DIVE IN

What can others find about you? *hint, hint* It's everything! (Unless you secure your online image) It's as simple as 1,2,3.

1. Change your privacy settings

2. Clean your online content

3. Change your online name

LET'S DIG A LITTLE DEEPER

TWITTER CLEANUP

How do you hide certain information on Twitter? Easy!

  1. Delete Tweets from a long time ago
  2. Make 2 Twitters (professional and personal)

INSTAGRAM CLEANUP

Unfortunately the only way to hide posts on Instagram is to make your account private. Other than that, avoid posting any risky behavior on Instagram. However, times and companies are changing therefore what you can and cannot post, is often changing. For example, a couple of years ago a swimsuit picture on Instagram may have been considered inappropriate, however with the introduction of influencers and micro-influencers, it is now more socially acceptable.

FACEBOOK CLEANUP

Facebook may be dying now, however many companies still use it as a screening tool. Lucky for you, Facebook makes it easy to hide things from your profile. The two most important features to note are:

  1. Privacy settings and tools
    1. Can use this to edit how people can find and contact you, as well as who can see your posts.
  2. Activity log
    1. Can use this to hide posts from your timeline
