What is geofencing in marketing?
Geofencing is using a location-based service to target customers with advertisements. When internet-capable devices are used within he specified region (the "geofence"), businesses can send targeted ads through platforms like Google Adwords, Facebook, and Instagram.

Examples of Geofencing
- A retail store within a shopping mall creating a geofence to attract customers already shopping at the mall
- An auto dealership targeting customers leaving competitor dealerships
- A concert company creating a geofence within a city center ahead of a tour date
- A sporting goods company targeting customers at high volume gyms
How to be Successful with Geofencing
Target your customers where they already are
Your target market may not be near your location. Consider your target market's lifestyle and interests and target locations that already cater to those.

Keep your message brief but specific
You're targeting a very specific location looking for a very specific customer, make sure your ad is eye catching and tailored. Generic ads are annoying and easily ignored.
Make it worth their while
Give your ads a high impact. The purpose of your geofence shouldn't just be "alert customers of the existence of my business". Your ads should stand out above the rest of the clutter and alert them of something important about your business.

Review and revise
Collect data on your geofence and analyze what is/isn't working. Adjust your locations and your message accordingly.
Very funny pictures! I also thought your information was very interesting! I’m very glad you chose to write about this since we didn’t go over too long in class. You’re also great with gifs!
Out of the few blogs I have read for the assigned topic, this one takes the cake. Designed very well!
This is the first time I have ever heard of “Geofencing” so I just learned something new.
Very nice blog and I like how you described the meaning of why it’s important for businesses to use this feature.
