Effective Website Design!

479

In the last two classes we have discussed the ways and importance of building an effective website. We have discussed everything from the target markets all the way to the developmental tools that help perfect the websites. The topics that stuck out to me that in my mind that make websites more effective would be the target market, design, and the accessibility of the website! I feel like once you have all three aspects and really understand why you’re using them, will benefit you in the long run!

1.Target Market

When constructing a website it is important to make sure you know who you are selling your product to. If your market pertains more towards the younger generations, you will tend to see more pictures and smaller font but if your market is geared towards the older generation, you will see bigger font that stands out and is easy to read! With the target market figured out, you are then able to start using the demographic of the market to focus on the design of the website.

  1. Design

Once you discover your target market, it opens up the doors of how you should be designing. The designing of websites is crucial because when customers or prospects look through the page, you want them to feel invited and for them to spend a good amount of time online. How you rope them to stay longer on the site would be through not only the text and color but also being descriptive. With texts on websites you should have it big enough for both generations can read it and the colors should be nice inviting colors. Descriptiveness will help people stay on longer because they might have to work longer on the website to understand and continue to ask more questions about the website.

  1. Accessibility

Having a website that is accessible will also help businesses have an effective gain on leads. Being able to convert your website into a mobile website helps tremendously because in this day of age everything must be accessible through phones. As much as it needs to be clear and concise, that way when people are accessing the site they are able to navigate through the site and understand what they’re clicking.

  1. Hi Scott, I truly enjoyed your blog because it points out every single one of the points that we discussed in class. It is a great idea and I totally agree with you regarding converting a website into a mobile website because now a days people use phones the most. In my opinion all websites should be converted into phone websites or apps.

  2. Hi Scott,
I think that you had some really great points in the “Design” portion of your blog. This is the step that often gets overlooked. Most people look at a website and try to see how easy it is to use rather than if it looks like there has been time spent developing it. The first thing that I normally pay attention to when I visit a site is how eye appealing it is.

  3. Hi Scott,

I really liked your blog. Your three points outlined everything we discussed in class to have an effective website. I didn’t even think about how the accessibility factor could affect if a consumer chooses your website your not. I thought about it and realized I would probably choose a different website if I could not access it on my mobile device. I agree that especially in this generation, website designers need to start converting every website into apps and make it accessible on all mobile devices because consumers are all about the convenience factor.
