Digital analytics allows a company to see the big picture as well as see what is working for the company and what isn’t. The importance of digital analytics is that is gives a company a data-driven approach to marketing which can then produce better results in the long run.

Some examples of digital analytics for marketing:

  • Website Traffic, this will let your company know which campaigns are working and which ones are not!
  • Sessions, this is the number of actual visits your website gets.
  • Conversion Rate, how many of your visitors have bought something from your website.
  • Pageviews, how many times does a user visit the same page on your website.
  • Pages with the most visits, this will help show consumer behavior flow on your website.
  • Bounce Rate, this is the percentage of people who leave after only visiting one page. This can help show where issues are on your website.

Why should digital analytics should be used for all websites? Analytics can be used to set a path and marketing plan for the entire company. There are a ton of different scenarios which digital analytics can be applied. For example, a marketing manager wants to understand sales and where the issues are that have been holding up customers from completing a sale. Knowing where a customer ditches their cart or shows disinterest in specific pages can be very helpful for a company to know!
