SEO stands for “search Engine Optimization. Now some of you may ask “well what does this mean?”. This means that search engines are optimizing websites based on what people search to find them. This can be anything such as key words, description, or even linking. Now I know I just threw out a bunch of words at you. But don’t worry, I’m going to help you understand them.

Let’s start with “Keywords”
Some of you may be asking “what in the heck are key words?”. Well, keywords are certain words that will bring customers to you web page. This will help search engines help your customers, find your site, so they can buy things from you. Now the ways that you get keywords that correlate with your website is as simple as choosing a word and using a keyword explorer website and see how the competition stacks up. The key factor to a key word, is to make sure that you aren’t picking a word that is used in a lot of websites. If you are selling coffee, don’t just use “coffee” as a keyword. Your website will get buried under thousands of coffee brands and shops that bring in traffic. Try to be more specific in your keyword decision to make sure that you get the best results for your site.
Descriptions.
Now descriptions are just that. In these you want to give a brief description of what you are selling. This will most likely be the selling factor in your product. For smaller businesses, this will be your biggest selling point. If you are selling a product, you want your description to be what put the gap between you, and the competition. It goes without saying but you want your description to be honest and not too wordy. Here is your shot to tell your story about your product, use this time wisely, because this could be what makes your product sell.
Linking.
Linking is where the fun begins. This is the opportunity to get people to your site, any way possible (with in reason). This is where you put your link, on other sites to get clicks to yours. Now there is a right and a wrong way to do this. So let’s focus on the right way. One of the right ways is to create a social media presence. Whether is Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or anything else you want to do. This will allow your customers somewhere to follow you, and it will also give them a place to share from you. This is important because this means all of their followers and friends could become potential customers. So having your link on a social media page would create lots of clicks for your site. Another way you can get linking to work in your favor is have a way to get your link on someone else’s website. This could be by you writing a blog for someone and, with permission, plugging your website. This could also be getting on Trip advisor or Yelp to get a better following to your website. All of these different strategies will help you build a web link to your website to get you more clicks, which in return will get you more customers and make your business more successful.
