Difference between SSL and HTTPS

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer and is an encryption technology developed by Netscape to counter identity theft. The main difference between SSL and HTTPS is that SSL is a cryptographic protocol, while HTTPS is protocol created combining HTTP and SSL.

How it Works
