Digital Analytics: The Conversions Report

226

What is the conversions report and what does it accomplish?

The Conversions Report is a report used to show how customers interact with the webpage of a business, and it is used to improve the interactions the consumers have when roaming around your companies’ website. The business will then make improvements based on the report so that the company goals are achieved.

4 Goal Types of the Conversion Report:

  1. Destination
  2. Duration
  3. Pages/Screens per session
  4. Event
  • Destination: The page of your website that users see after completing an activity.
    • Ex. Thank you for signing up!
  • Duration: Time on site is triggered when a user’s time on a site falls below or above a certain threshold set by the company.
    • Ex. Spending 15 minutes on a site
  • Pages/screens per visit: Is triggered when a user sees more or fewer pages than a threshold that you specified.
    • Ex. Tracking people who have visited the site three or more times
  • Event: When the user does something specific.
    • Ex. downloading a file, starting a video, clicking on a social media icon.

Useful metrics to calculate goals:

  • Conversion rate: percentage of goal completions
  • Revenue: tell analytics how much a goal completion is worth
  • For Retail: tie it to a destination goal and tell GA how much an order is worth on average
  • For Lead Generation: tie it to a destination goal and tell GA how much an average lead is worth
