As of 2020 the digital world thought to add eight new trends.

First on our list is MUTED color palettes.

Brands and Designers are on the cusp of this years changes. They are replacing last years elaborate patters and flashy colors with something more simple. Muted colors are desaturated with black, white complementary color, or complementary tone.

Followed by color GRADIENTS

Gradient will no longer be left for the background. Instead, gradients will be used in multiple ways like complex illustrations, color filters, and added into simple graphics. By using one of these simple tricks you can enhance depth and texture to a layout.

On to ABSTRACT illustrations

Simple illustrations are yesterdays news. Catching the attention of viewers today involved aesthetics and abstract illustrations that demonstrate a dreamy feel. Make it stand out without making it clash.

This leads us to HEAVY fonts

Heavy fonts will generally allow for a balanced contrast when paired with the right color and background. Heavy fonts are typically those BOLD or even EXTRA BOLD fonts that most people tend to avoid. Get the message across and don’t miss your target when using HEAVY fonts.

SHAPES and LINES add to the flow

Conveying a natural, genuine, and positive feeling in your design can be easily obtained by adding lightly flowing shapes and lines. This will complement well with all of our others trends.

Bring on the NEUTRAL

This year will be the year of neutral stock photos. By adding a genuine moment with neutral colors we can stack up images or other muted colors to convey a simple design.

MINIMAL is good for a landing page

When working on a website’s landing page it’s important to know whats trending. This website has used all of the new graphic design tends, and it even made sure to have its minimalist aspects. It’s easy to want to grab the attention of the viewer, but you can have that by occupying each space with an image or funky font. There must be enough space for the viewer to smoothly navigate around (or down) your page.

And for our last trend….

Branded ANIMATIONS

Branded animation will be a lot more creatively thought out this year. It can be a lot more eye-catching than a standard GIF.

  1. Luciana, I enjoyed your blog for many reasons. The use of white space and pictures made the blog very appealing, not only that but you displayed graphic design within your blog while also describing how to optimize a page.

  2. It can be so hard to pinpoint trends, but you did a fantastic job at it. Not only do I feel super informed on the current design and visual trends, but I feel like I am legitimately going to use this knowledge at some point this year. Nice blog Lucina!
